2003 was SSF's first year of operation. With a zero budget and a lot of aspirations we set out to create big, fast change. We think we did pretty well our first year out, but we still have a long way to go. Antioch, Center for Creative Change (February, ongoing) | Sean Schmidt served on a committee to advise on the creation of Antioch's new Center for Creative Change.
Sustainability Workshop, WSU Jefferson County (April) | Sean Schmidt was one of three panelists presenting at a meeting of land developers and real estate agents on the topic of sustainability.
SSF - Seattle Launch (April) | A special birthday event for SSF friend and supporter Pat Cole. The event served as our SSF - Seattle launch and included fashions by Andrew Dyrdahl made from recycled parachute material, music my James Wetzel and special guest Jamie Becker of Marshall Fields.
Millennium Scholarships Fund (September) | Sean Schmidt participated in a panel titled "Brands and Beliefs" at the Millennium Scholarships Fund's annual conference that brings together student scholarship recipients from across Canada. Ottawa, Canada.
Nathan Hale High School Visit (October) | Sean Schmidt visited Nathan Hale High School to discuss sustainable style with the YMCA Earth Service Corps club.
Roosevelt Hale High School Visit (October) | Sean Schmidt visited Nathan Hale High School to discuss sustainable style with the YMCA Earth Service Corps club.
I Buy Different Student Scavenger Hunt (November) | partnered with World Wildlife Fund, Center for a New American Dream and Sustainable Seattle to produce a student scavenger hunt as part of WWF/CNAD's I Buy Different campaign educating youth on sustainable consumption.
BSR Registration Area (November) | SSF styled and produced a 'new and improved' registration area for the Business for Social Responsibility (BSR) annual conference in Los Angeles. SSF created five stunning mini-lounges around elemental themes (fire, air, water, spirit and earth) using high-style vintage modern furniture.

SSF Website Launch (May) | The SSF website serves as a clearinghouse of information on sustainable style demonstrating the amount and breadth of sustainability efforts underway across the many and diverse style industries.
Mainstreaming Organic Cotton (June, ongoing) | Sean Schmidt served on a committee lead by the Network for Business Innovation and Sustainability (NBIS) to mainstream the use of organic cotton in apparel.
Legally Blond 2 Afterglow (July) | A post party for the premier of Legally Blond 2 in Seattle, raising awareness for the Breast Cancer Fund and PAWS
Fashion is Art Afterglow (August) | A post party for the Fashion is Art held as part of the annual Bumbershoot Festival.

BSR Registration Gala Reception (November) | SSF styled and produced the gala reception for the BSR annual conference in Los Angeles. With a goal to 'inspire change', the ballroom-sized CSR Savvy Lounge included celebrity speakers, multimedia presentations, live models wearing apparel from companies embracing sustainability, organic food and a lot of networking.
