Repeated lost / missing orders

I have just hung up after speaking with Viva Terra for 20 minutes. I placed an order to be delivered to my mother for her 84th birthday. My family and I had visited her in August and she was gushing about the catalogue. I have been checking with her for close to 2 weeks as of today (9/15), to see if her gift had arrived. It had not.

I phoned Viva Terra this afternoon and they were unable to locate my order with the order number that they had emailed on my receipt. They finally found it by cross-referencing my name They then told me that the package had been delivered on Sept. 1, but that there was no signature. They would have to launch an investigation into the package and would let me know in ten to 14 days whether or not they would reship the item or offer a refund.

I suggested that since we had already waited over two weeks, they should ship a new package via expedited delivery with their apologies. I was flatly turned down by the associate and her supervisor.

I phoned my mother back to tell her how frustrated I was that her gift had not arrived and she informed me that she was presently trying to straighten out a couple of botched orders of her own. Incredulously, I asked her what the name of the company was, and it was. miraculously, Viva Terra!

She had placed an order in July for four items, three to be delivered to her and one to my sister-in-law in another city. After several weeks went by, nothing had arrived so she followed up. Viva Terra was also unable to locate her original order with the order number. What's up with that?

She placed the entire order a second time, only they reversed the shipping information and sent the three items that were supposed to go to my mother to my sister-in-law and the one item that was supposed to go to my sister in law went to my mother.

I cannot believe that one company could make such a total mess of two separate orders, from losing order numbers on both to reversing shipping, to in my case, failing to deliver the billed item at all.

Cute catalogue, but Caveat Emptor! I only hope to get my credit card straightened out before they go under. With this type of sloppy operation, it can't be long off.
