GoLoco [posted on May 17, 2007]
Founded by Robin Chase, who also started up car-sharing service ZipCar, GoLoco is a new online service encouraging folks to partner up and carpool when they get behind the wheel. It's free to register and search for and post rides; it's up to individual drivers if they want to charge their riders to help defer the costs of gas or parking, and GoLoco handles all of the transactions online. Notes Chase, "Seventy-five percent of all passenger cars on the road transport only one person at any given time, resulting in a vast waste of gasoline, money and time with friends." Help put a stop to it with [GoLoco]

Awake at the Wheel [posted on December 22, 2006]
The guys behind Seattle's Propel Biofuels have a blog to provide the most accurate, up to date and practical information to biodiesel drivers. With information about blending biodiesel for cold winter driving, the relative cost of biodiesel vs. its petrol equivalent (they're currently selling biodiesel for $3.01 vs. $3.13 for petrodiesel in Seattle) and more, we think their position as retailers and alt-fuel enthusiasts gives them a good perspective on the burgeoning biofuel industry. Philadelphia Fry-O-Diesel [posted on December 6, 2006]
Founded in 2004, the goal of Philadelphia Fry-o-Diesel is to develop locally produced biofuels from waste grease. An estimated 4-5 million gallons of grease are generated each year by restaurants and food service companies in the Philadelphia area, and it is usually incinerated or dumped, until now. Fry-O-Diesel takes the waste oil and turns it into biodiesel, which produces fewer carbon and particulate emissions and runs in all diesel engines without any conversion necessary. TerraPass [posted on November 9, 2006]
It might seem there's nothing you can do about global warming. Of course, we all contribute to this problem. We all have a "carbon footprint," the total carbon dioxide emissions we create when we drive or fly or use electricity. The first step you can take to fight is to reduce your carbon footprint through conservation. Then use TerraPass to reduce your carbon footprint all the way to zero. When you buy a TerraPass, your money funds renewable energy projects such as wind farms. These projects result in verified reductions in greenhouse gas pollution. And these reductions counterbalance your own emissions. [TerraPass]
