SSF is very excited to launch our annual Outstanding Sustainable Style Achievement (OSSA) Awards on Wednesday, April 14, 2004 at the Gibson Guitars showroom in Beverly Hills, California.

The OSSA Awards recognize outstanding social and environmental efforts across style industries that help us all "look fabulous, live well and do good". The OSSAs are designed to showcase the amount and breadth of sustainability efforts underway in style industries, as well as foster cross-industry awareness and inspiration as they are one of the few places where stylemakers, community organizations, businesses and government come together to celebrate the many ways we can make positive change in the world as we express ourselves in our individual style choices. Above all, the OSSAs provide incredible role models for us all to look up to.

For the 2004 OSSA Awards launch, we will be announcing honorable mentions in each of the award categories.

Communication & Communication Design | This award is given to an individual or firm for exceptional and exemplary work in Publishing, Graphic Design, Multimedia or Advertising.

Designed Environments | This award is given to an individual, organization or company for exceptional and exemplary work in architecture, interior design, landscape design or urban design.

Entertainment | This award is given to an individual, organization or company for exceptional and exemplary work in film, television, music, or other performing arts.

Fashion & Beauty | This award is given to an individual, organization or company for exceptional and exemplary work in fashion and beauty.

Food & Restaurant | This award is given to an individual, organization or company for exceptional and exemplary work in food and restaurant.

Industrial Design & Consumer Products | This award is given to an individual or firm for exceptional and exemplary work in the design of consumer goods, automobiles, technology, etc.

Sports | This award is given to an individual, organization or company for exceptional and exemplary work in sports and recreation.

Travel | This award is given to an individual, organization or company for exceptional and exemplary work in travel, including hotels, airlines, etc.

Vision and Innovation Award | This award recognizes an individual, organization or company that has demonstrated ongoing leadership and vision in a style/design industry. This award is selected by the SSF boards and advisors following nominations from the SSF membership.

Outstanding Public Expression | This award recognizes outstanding efforts by a celebrity, style professional or public figure that uses their high profile position to bring attention to pressing social and/or environmental issues. This award is selected by the SSF boards and advisors following nominations from the SSF membership.

Youth Vision Award | This award is given to an individual or group of individuals (including organizations and companies) under the age of 25 for exceptional and exemplary work incorporating €˜sustainble style€™. This award is selected by the SSF boards and advisors following nominations from the SSF membership.

The Style and Substance Award in Honor of Audrey Hepburn | The Style and Substance Award is SSF's highest honor and recognizes outstanding efforts by a celebrity, style professional or public figure to improve the quality of life of children around the world. This award is selected by SSF and AHCF boards and advisors.

[Partnership Awards]

PopIcon - Celebrity | This award recognizes a celebrity for a significant contribution to promoting awareness of a sustainable lifestyle and using their visibility and impact on pop culture to inspire others. Individuals are nominated by members of a youth organization, selected by popular vote.

PopIcon - Company| This award recognizes a company for a significant contribution to promoting awareness of a sustainable lifestyle and using their visibility and impact on pop culture to inspire others. Companies must be ranked by Innovest and are nominated by members of a youth organization, selected by popular vote.

TREEchic Award | This award is selected by New Leaf Paper for exemplary leadership in acknowledging the connection between women€™s health and the environment.

IntegraTREE Award | This award is selected by New Leaf Paper for a company committed high-volume use of post-consumer content process chlorine free paper.
