2008 Best Dressed Environmental List

April 7th, 2008

Press Release: April 21, 2008 – SSF Names 2008 Best Dressed Environmentalists

In support and recognition of the most stylish environmentalists on the planet – and just in time to celebrate Earth Day – the Sustainable Style Foundation (SSF) is pleased to announce its 2008 Best Dressed Environmental List.

Who said you have to give up looking fabulous and living well in order to do good. The individuals on our 2008 Best Dressed Environmental List – from activists to celebrities to politicians – prove that it is possible to be a person of both style and substance. Sure, these individuals always look fabulous but they’re also out trying to make the world a better place…that is what got them on our list. Our hope in establishing the annual Best Dressed Environmental List is that these high-profile lifestyle role models will inspire everyone, from movies stars to the Mom next door to make more sustainable decisions in their personal lifestyle choices. True style, the essence of style, is not about following trends or conformity. It’s about expressing yourself and your individuality through the clothes you choose to wear, the food you choose to eat, the way you decorate your house, the car you choose to drive; just about everything you do every day. These outstanding individuals are proving that looking fabulous, living well, and doing good is easier than ever.

Like any ‘best’ list, there are lots of new names, some repeats, many shifts, and a few surprises. To celebrate the fifth year of their Best Dressed Environmental List SSF chose to select 30 women and men for 2008 because…well, because there were just far too many people to choose from. We had over 70 individuals on both the women’s and men’s list and narrowing them down to 30 was difficult enough. As far as surprises go, who would have guessed that Jesse James and Pierce Brosnan would appear together on a best dressed list. Certainly not us at SSF, but hey…stranger things have happened. In the case of our 2008 Best Dressed Environmental List, both James and Brosnan have a great personal style and both are committed to the environment. Congratulations to all of our 2008 honorees.
