Umbrella Inside Out

SSF is happy to be co-sponsoring Umbrella Inside Out, the first design competition organized by TreeHugger.com in collaboration with I.D. Magazine. The competition is looking for either an innovative, Cradle-to-Cradle(R)-type umbrella design or a women's couture garment fashioned from old umbrellas.

How does this work?

The Vision & Innovation Award recognizes an individual, organization or company that has demonstrated ongoing leadership and vision in a style/design industry. The SSF Board of Directors has selected Aveda to receive SSF's first Vision & Innovation Award. Since it's founding in 1978 by Horst M. Rechelbacher, Aveda has set the standard in the beauty industry, as well as many other industries, on how to infuse both social and environmental responsibility into a company's culture and core business strategy. More than anything, they have proven it not only possible, but fun and hip, to look fabulous, live well, and do good.
