Industrial Design & Consumer Products: Whole Foods Market
The 2,000-square-foot Whole Foods Lifestyle store, which sits in the same shopping complex as an existing Whole Foods, was built using sustainable and environmentally-friendly materials: flooring, shelves, walls, paint, hemp curtains for the dressing rooms and even reclaimed and reused furniture as displays and for sale. Brands available in the store include Loomstate (organic cotton jeans), Edun Clothing (hip clothing from U2's Bono, his wife Ali Hewson and Rogan Gregory, and fellow OSSA Award recipient), World of Good (one-of-a-kind fair trade accessories from artisans around the world), Green Babies (100% organic items for little ones), Little Earth (recycled handbags made from old license plates and belts made from seat belts and bottle caps), Lenore Bags (purses and bags made from recycled phone books), Xeno Objects (bamboo chairs), Green Sage Sustainable Furniture (upholstered organic headboards and bed frames), Fire & Light (recycled glass dinnerware), Safecoat Paint (no VOC paint) and Six Degrees (fair-trade world music collection with a listening station). From top to bottom, this store is pure sustainable style. |
