Umbrella Inside Out

The competition is looking for either an innovative, Cradle-to-Cradle(R)-type umbrella design or a women's couture garment fashioned from old umbrellas.

Molded from a single piece of bent plywood, the method used to make J. Persing's Europa Barstool uses less than one-eighth the lumber required by conventional furniture. The contemporary piece is finished with water-based adhesives and availabe in eight different wood stains.
