The Swoosh has been taking some big sustainability steps lately. They made it on EPA's Top 20 Best Workplaces for Commuters from the Fortune 500 Companies list for the third year in a row, and was recently named among the top 10 companies for transparent corporate sustainability reporting.
Nike's commuter program, TRAC (Traveling Responsibly? Accept the Challenge), offers prizes and incentives to commuters who eschew the gasoline- or diesel-powered vehicle. Since 1992, it has reduced the percentage of employees who drive alone from 98 percent to 84 percent. Nike was also the first in the sports-apparel industry to disclose the names and locations of contract factories making its products.
