Founded in 2004, the goal of Philadelphia Fry-o-Diesel is to develop locally produced biofuels from waste grease. An estimated 4-5 million gallons of grease are generated each year by restaurants and food service companies in the Philadelphia area, and it is usually incinerated or dumped, until now. Fry-O-Diesel takes the waste oil and turns it into biodiesel, which produces fewer carbon and particulate emissions and runs in all diesel engines without any conversion necessary.
