Toshiba Unveils First RoHS-Compatible Laptop for US Retail
March 6, 2006
Toshiba's Satellite A55-S1064 is the first computer produced for US retail that is in compliance with RoHS (Restriction on Hazardous Substance), an environmental directive set by the European Parliament, effective July 1, whose goal is to restrict the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment.
In addition to offering RoHS-compatible notebooks, Toshiba DPD is a participant in the Rethink Initiative, which encourages the recycling of old products. Toshiba also operates a trade-in program that gives customers cash back for their old products.
