Josh Dorfman of Vivavi: The Sustainable Luxury Myth
May 10, 2006
Josh Dorfman, CEO of Vivavi and Host of The Lazy Environmentalist radio show, has a guest essay at WorldChanging about the myth of "sustainable luxury," or the idea that sustainable goods have to be luxury goods.
He equates the sustainable goods with technology: "Thirty years ago when Bill Gates was tinkering in a garage and Gordon Moore was still refining his law, personal technology devices were a luxury because few could afford the initial prototypes." Now, computers and other consumer electronics are everywhere; he argues that sustainability is headed down the same path. Definitely worth a read.
