The "Case for Sustainability" project is putting together a book of short case studies focusing on the intersection of business, the environment, and innovation, and they want your ideas! Those interested should submit their case studies by June 30, 2006.
As the project document puts it: To the greatest extent possible, the case studies selected for this project will be those appropriate for use not just in elective business courses (focusing on ethics, environmental topics, and social responsibility, for example) but also in core curriculum courses (on management, strategy, marketing, finance, operations, etc.). As such, a key goal is to demonstrate how companies and other organizations are harnessing sustainability as a driver of innovation in a manner that enhances their performance from a long-term financial standpoint, not just as an add-on exercise with little discernable value. The ultimate objective is to create relevant educational materials for use in academic degree programs, executive education programs, and within businesses and other interested organizations.
