Vail Resorts Flips the Switch on Wind Power
August 3, 2006
Vail Resorts announced that it will buy enough wind-generated electricity to replace all the power used by its five ski areas and more than 135 other stores, lodges and offices. Vail announced it would purchase nearly 152,000 megawatt-hours of wind-generated electricity per year, making it the second-largest corporate purchaser of wind power in the country.
In conjunction with the purchase, Vail is offering a special "Ski With the Wind" promotion. Those who sign up through Renewable Choice for wind power in their home, apartment or dorm room for one year will receive a free one-day ski lift ticket, valid all season long at any of their five mountain resorts - Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone and Heavenly - during the 2006-2007 winter season.
