Editor's note...

With summer just around the corner, now is a great time of year to enjoy food in Seattle. Farmer's markets are cranking up and the sun hangs around long enough to enjoy some outdoor dining and for barbeques to glow red-hot on decks across town. Whether you're into grillin' & chillin', or enjoy munching fresh, locally-grown veggies, there are many good things to be eaten in Seattle during the dog days of summer.

Seattle's fun food facts:

  • The average King County dairy farmer produces enough gallons of milk for just under 30,000 people per year.
  • There are over 40 different Farmers Markets serving Puget Sound.
  • The Puget Sound area is the premier raspberry growing region in the country, producing approximately 80-90% of the U.S. commercial crop.
  • There's lots of other great things happening this month; read on to learn more...
