[2005 ossa award winners] For Immediate Release Sustainable Style Foundation Announces Winners of its 2005 Outstanding Sustainable Style Achievement Awards (OSSA) at Los Angeles Ceremony Seattle, WA—April 27, 2005— At the second annual Outstanding Sustainable Style Achievement (OSSA) award program held this evening at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Marina Del Rey, California, Sustainable Style Foundation (SSF) announced ten winners from among more than 60 nominees. Popular style icons, including fashion designers Linda Loudermilk, Rogan Gregory, Global Green representative Rubin Aronin, and Frank Scura, founder of Eco Resolutions and the Action Sports Environmental Coalition (ASEC) attended the ceremony, hosted by actress Sharon Lawrence. Supermodel and co-founder of The Collage Foundation, Angela Lindvall, also presented Collage’s Youth Award at the special event to Jenny Hwa, the 26-year year old creator and executor of Loyale Clothing. The ten winners of Sustainable Style Foundation’s award program, which honors leaders for their style achievements addressing social and environmental challenges facing our world, are: BP Solar (communications & communication design), IKEA (designed environments), Sarah McLachlan (entertainment), Rogan Gregory’s Loomstate clothing collection (fashion & beauty), Frito Lay (food & restaurant), Call2Recycle (industrial design & consumer products), Toyota Prius (mobility), Lance Armstrong Foundation (sports), Aspen Skiing Company (travel) and Global Green USA (nonprofit). Special awards also were given to Aveda Corp., Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins in addition to the Audrey Hepburn Children’s Fund to recognize leadership in their respective fields. This year’s panel of judges included a diverse crowd of sustainability enthusiasts, including Lynne Barker (City of Seattle sustainable building specialist), Larry Dohrs (Newground Social Investment VP), Bruce Herbert (Newground Social Investment President), Lisa Hymas (Senior Editor at grist.org), Barbara Johnson (co-founder of the Design Resource Institute) and Amanda Wong (Junior at Seattle’s Garfield High School).
