Born and raised in the Midwest, Shannon came to Seattle to stay in 1999. She has since embraced Pacific Northwest life with enthusiasm if not always with grace. She rock climbs, skis, bikes and scuba dives, with varying degrees of success but always with gratitude for the natural world that is equal parts sanctuary, playground and church.
Shannon is a freelance writer and editor. Fresh from her Master’s degree program in Illinois, she embarked on a five-year adventure teaching in a small town in the Czech Republic. Upon her return, she headed West where she continued to teach until her passion for writing finally overcame all her instincts for self-preservation, and she gave up a career in academia to make some real money. Her commitment to a sustainable world manifests itself in numerous ways: she recycles everything that isn’t nailed down, lives in a condo that can only be described as “wee,” rides her bike most places and regularly gives reusable, cloth grocery bags as gifts. Shannon’s work can be found in several odd pockets on the Web, or via links from her website, Perry Writes. A dedicated greenie, Shannon is 100% recyclable.
Shannon is a Senior Editor with our fabulous SASS Magazine and frequent contributor to our SSF blog.
