More About the Electric Tesla Roadster from ChairmanSubmitted by SSF on Wed, 07/26/2006 - 3:14pm.
Filed in: mobility
The Tesla Roadster has been making news all over the world (we spied it last week) following it's big unveiling last week, and the good people at AutoblogGreen have tracked down the Chairman of Tesla Motors for a chat about the hot electric roadster. Elon Musk talks at length about Tesla Motors, the future of electric vehicles and why the Prius is a gas-guzzler. They've got big plans for the car that can do 0-60 in about four seconds, goes about 250 miles on each charge, which, when you do the math, works out to about 135 miles per gallon, and a cost of one penny per mile! Included in the future is a red carpet arrival at the Oscars, and maybe even more models for the family, Mom and Pop, and more. Read it all over at AutoblogGreen: [Q&A with Elon Musk] and [Tesla Motors] |

Tierra Del Forte InterActivates with GristSubmitted by SSF on Tue, 07/25/2006 - 6:19pm.
Filed in: fashion
Tierra Del Forte, founder and designer of Del Forte Denim, is Grist's InterActivist this week. It's their weekly two-part series where they chat with leading environmentalists and sustainable lifestyle practitioners; they answer the editor's questions first, and readers second. The editor's questions are up; Tierra has some great answers to their questions. Among our favorites, when talking about her company, is how they "show people that caring about the environment doesn't mean compromising your sense of style." She also mentions SSF pal Summer Rayne Oakes (who looks great in those jeans!) who is helping to prove that environmentalists can be sexy, too. Submit your questions by noon, Pacific time, tomorrow (Wednesday); the answers to reader's questions will be up on Friday. [Del Forte Denim] and [Grist] |

Cascadia Restaurant Offers Fab Front Row to Sustainable CookingSubmitted by Rebecca Luke on Mon, 07/24/2006 - 6:50pm.Last weekend one of my best friends treated me to one the top ten food experiences in my life. This is an area I am constantly researching, believe me, I love being a “foody”. Cascadia Restaurant based in Seattle with Chef Kerry Sear offers Saturday Market Tours with a cooking class, lunch and wine pairings. How amazing is that? I learned so much about where the restaurant buys their food locally, how they select their food and how we can too. I learned so much and have truly been inspired to keep on the path of cooking seasonally with local foods that are organic…how perfect. Cascadia’s site notes, “Since our first day to the present day, we've sought out locally sourced ingredients, worked with organic growers, and supported sustainable processes and techniques whenever possible. Rather than relying on single-source ingredients no matter what or overpromising on our menu's organic elements, we rely on best-source ingredients from a wide variety of farmers, ranchers, markets and more…” Chef Sear truly made every recipe seem so easy and accessible, but knowing me, I will just end up at Cascadia as always to enjoy one of their fabulous prix fixe tasting menus in a couple weeks.
