Editor's note...

Yes, the holidays are upon us, but here at SSF, we don't want to discourage you from buying gifts or avoiding consumption. We prefer to concentrate on doing more good rather than less bad; as we are fond of saying, "the world is full of possibilities to look fabulous, live well and do good," and that goes for the holidays as well. No one should have to avoid buying gifts for people they care about, especially if your gifts are good for you, the planet, and the people who made them. Here are a couple of sustainable gift ideas:

  • Go out for a night on the town with tickets to a concert, play or sporting event. We even have some free tickets for you...more info below
  • Buy carbon credits to offset the holiday travel for you, your family and friends at sites like NativeEnergy
  • Support SSF or another favorite charity or non-profit with a gift in the name of your giftee
  • Wrap your gifts in reusable materials like gift bags, or go thematic, like using a kitchen towel for culinary gifts
  • Buy it local! You know Mom & Dad love Seattle's smoked salmon, so avoid shipping and pick it up at Pike Place instead.
From everyone at SSF, best wishes to you and yours on a safe, sustainable and healthy holiday season.

Puget Sound International Gift Giver's Guide
