Not leaving your TV on standby and walking to school instead of getting a lift could help save thousands of tons of carbon dioxide if everyone did the same. Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels announced plans to build the world's largest biodiesel plant in his state yesterday. Louis Dreyfus Agriculture Industries LLC (run by the father of Julia Louis Dreyfus) plans to build the plant near Claypool, Indiana. The new facility will produce up to 250,000 gallons of biodiesel per day, which adds up to more than 80 million gallons per year.

The new facility will produce up to 250,000 gallons of biodiesel per day, which adds up to more than 80 million gallons per year.
Said the Governor, "It’s been a hectic year of dramatic progress in renewable fuels development in our state. If Indiana can do this, think what America can do to work toward energy self-sufficiency. In just one year, we’re growing from one alternative fuels plant to nine, with more to come." Indiana is the fifth-largest corn state and the fourth-largest soybean state. With the facilities under construction, the state will produce an additional 400 million gallons of ethanol annually and 95 million gallons of biodiesel. Indiana’s goal is to produce a combined 1 billion gallons of ethanol and biodiesel annually.

Thanks to Fuji Xerox the problem is solved; the Trust-Eco 1500 not only shreds paper beyond recognition at an astonishing rate, it's also low on power consumption, and the fibers remain intact enough to be recycled.

Tom's of Maine has announced that they are now using 100% renewable energy for their manufacturing and fulfillment facility in Sanford, Maine. Tom’s will be purchasing 1.15 million kWh of renewable energy certificates annually, the equivalent of planting 214 acres of trees.
